A Micro Wedding on a Vineyard outside of Carmel by-the Sea

Micro weddings are quickly becoming a favorite of mine to shoot. They are all just so intentional and that makes me (someone who thrives off of human connection) so happy. I love that couples are thinking outside of the box and planning not just a wedding, but a memorable vacation for their family and friends. The wedding days are perfect, so stress free and relaxing, you truly are able to take in every moment of the day without having to worry about a timeline or an arbitrary traditional structure. Every detail of the day can be totally unique and particular to you, and I think thats the part that makes micro weddings so special.

Emma and Erik had their wedding cancelled twice not only because of covid but also because of their original wedding venue burning down from the Sonoma, CA fires last year. Emma and Erik didnt give up though when they had to yet again cancel their wedding for the second time, instead Emma found a gorgeous big house that was set in a vineyard to host their 30 person weekend wedding. The trip truly felt like a big family vacation with close family friends that just so happened to have a wedding in the middle of it. It was beautiful to witness both sides of their families spending so much quality time together, something that doesn’t happen at a giant traditional wedding. It was a celebration of two families joining together, and celebrate these people did.

Caleb and I spent the day before and of the wedding with the families documenting their time together. We really tried to prioritize telling a story of the day instead of taking the usual pretty and posed photo’s you typically see from a wedding album. It meant a lot to me for this couple to have authentic memories of their trip since there was so much heart that went into planning this weekend. I hope as you scroll through these images that you can also feel that sense of joy that the rest of the guests, along with the bride and groom, felt this day.
